Infection control

           When hands should be washed:


                    When visibly soiled.


                    Before and after client contact.

                    After contact with a source of microorganisms (blood, body fluids,

                     mucus membranes, non-intact skin).


                    Prior to performance of invasive procedures (IV, catheters).

                    Before and after removing gloves (wearing gloves does not remove

                     the need to wash hands).


                    At the beginning and end of every shift.

              B. Aseptic Techniques to prevent spread of disease



           Methods         used  to  make  the  environment,  and  worker  free  from

           microorganism as possible


                    Proper handling of all equipment

                    Use sterile procedure when necessary


           Uses of personal protective equipment



                    Disposable gloves

                    Plastic aprons

                    Face masks


                    Safety glasses, goggles

                    Head protection

                    Foot protection


                    Gowns
