W hat strange times we now live in and 2020 was
no di erent. Cricket was
eventually allowed to be played as long as we followed the
new rules, no changing rooms, no teas, sanitizing a cricket ball, social distancing etc etc.... What would WG say?
In this district we did manage to get some 6 games although we did have a few others pencilled in, but these did not materialize because of one thing or another. It was the rst time that I can say we did not have any issues getting teams out as people wanted to play which was fantastic. I would like
to thank everyone for playing in what was a very short season.
Looking forward to 2021 and hopefully being able to get in more games thanks to the vaccine and we have potentially 22 matches to play, with some new xtures against Dulwich College, Wickham Park and South Bank.
The schedule is due to start on the 21st of April with an all day match against Alleyn’s School, which is a great opener for the season, followed by a trip to the lovely ground at Sutton Valance School on the 22nd. In May we travel to Dover
College, always a very enjoyable game with Dover Castle as a distant backdrop.
We have so many more games on excellent grounds and hope that we will get to play them all this season. Our match managers will be in touch soon for availability but, please, to help them it would be great for you to get you diaries out and look at the xtures on the play-cricket web site and start letting them know the games you would like to play.
We have created a brand-new Facebook group Forty Club Kent and East Sussex District so look out for us on social media.
Hopefully, we can once again enjoy this wonderful game, playing without any restrictions and for many years to come. We can nally meet new friends to have a chat and a drink at the bar.
