SCOTLAND (COLIN NEILL)
eason 2020 was unusual to say the least. A huge thank you to the 55 players that turned out in
August and September. The players spanned many generations from the young lady from Stirling Coun- ty to the Laird of Glendelvine. We
missed the legend that is Alec Steele and we wish him a full recovery and look forward to seeing him behind the timbers in 2021. Thanks also to Bruce, Matt, Craig, Paul, Alec, Allan, Eric and many others that kept us within the rules of cricket and sanitisa- tion. The thank you’s would not be complete if we didn’t acknowledge and thank Jane, Allan, Craig, Paul and Colin who squared the books and tallied the runs and recorded them on the Play Cricket Web site. Here’s to seeing you all again in 2021.
Season 2020 had a certain sym- metry. It started at the Vale of Leven with a century and a win and nished at Glendelvine with a century and a win. In between we played the length and breadth of Scotland recording 12 victories and 3 losses. 45 batsmen scored 2104 runs, while 39 bowlers bowled 459 overs taking 110 wickets and conceding 1727 runs. There were some great catches, 47 taken overall and some howlers shelled! For the rst
time in who knows how long no stumpings!
Of the 2,104 runs Brendon Hillyard
was top scorer with 341. There
were three centuries, two from
Brendon (100* and 105*) and one
from Francois Fourie (116*), while eight
players scored fty or more. Of the 110 wickets, Jerry Smith was the most successful, bagging 16 although he was pushed all the way by new boy Nikhil Kadyan who nished with 13. There were 3 ve wicket hauls, the best Jerry Smith (5-10) at Forthill.
In the eld there were 47 catches taken and many more missed! Top elders were Colin Neill, Francois Fourie, Dinesh Bailwal, Rajitha Waruna and Brendon Hillyard who all took three.
Season 2020 saw rst visits to The Millburn, Cally Woods and Scroggie Park. Also a rst match with Prestwick CC. Thanks to all those clubs for inviting us and being perfect hosts. As well as the schools
