Redaction: Open My Mouth in a Parable
MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN
which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, • also beareth fruit, • and bring

¶ And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel or under a bed? [A]nd
not to be set on a candlestick? • No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or
putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. • For
there is nothing {hid, / secret,} {that / which} shall not be {manisfested; / made manifest;} • neither was
anything kept {secret, / hid,} {that shall not / but that it should} • be known and come abroad. • If any
man hath ears to hear, let him hear. And he said unto them, Take heed • therefore {how / what} ye hear:
[W]ith what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: [A]nd unto you that hear shall more be
given. For he • whosoever • that hath, to him shall be given: [A]nd he • whosoever • that hath not, • from
him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

¶ Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. And
it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of
God, and do it. •

¶ Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a
man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among
the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared
the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good
seed in thy field? [F]rom whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The
servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye
gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: [A]nd
in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in
bundles to burn them: [B]ut gather the wheat into my barn.•
