Redaction: Bread from Heaven

           MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN

we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: [F]or he himself knew what he would
do. Philip answerd him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of
them may take a little. • He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? [G]o and see. And when they

knew, • [o]ne of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which
hath • no more than • five barley loaves, and two small fishes: [B]ut what are they among so many? •
[E]xcept we should go and by meat for all this people. For they were about five thousand men. • He
said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, • [a]nd Jesus

said • to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company • upon the green grass. • And they
did so, and made them all sit down. • Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, • in
ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties • in number about five thousand. • Then {he / Jesus} took • the five
loaves and two fishes, • [a]nd when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to
       heaven, and blessed, and break the loaves, • and when he had given thanks, he {distributed / gave}

them to his disciples • and the disciples to • set before {them / the multitude} • that were set down; and
likewise of the • the two fishes divided he amongst them all • as much as they would. • And they did eat,
and were all filled: • When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that
remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets • and

there was taken up • twelve baskets full of the fragments • with the fragments of the five barley loaves, •
and of the fishes • which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. • And they that had eaten •
of the loaves • were about five thousand men, beside women and children. • Then those men, when
they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the
       world.
