Redaction: Bread From Heaven

           MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN

                                 - Walking on the Sea -

                         Matt 14:22-36 • Mark 06:45-56 • Luke • John 06:15-21
       -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
¶ W[hen] Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him
a king, Jesus constrained his disciples • to get into the ship, • and go before him unto the other side, •

unto Bethsaida, while he sent {away the people / the multitudes away.} And when he had sent the
multitudes away, he {went up / departed} again into a mountain himself • apart to pray: [H]e was there
alone • [a]nd when • the evening • was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, [a]nd entered
into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to

them. • But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, • and he alone on the land. • And the sea arose by
reason of a great wind that blew. • And he saw them toiling in rowing; • tossed with waves: • [F]or the
wind was contrary unto them: • So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, • in •
about • the fourth watch of the night Jesus {went / cometh} unto them, walking upon the sea, and would
have passed by them. • [T]hey see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: • But when

       • the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, • they supposed it had been a spirit, •
saying, It is a spirit; [A]nd they {cried out for fear. / were afraid.} For they all saw him, and were
       troubled. • But {straightway / immediately} Jesus {spake unto / talked with} them, and said unto them,
Be of good cheer: [I]t is I; be not afraid. • And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me

come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he
walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning
to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught
him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? • Then they willingly received
him into the ship: • And he went up unto them into the ship; • [a]nd when they were come into the ship,

the wind ceased • and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. For they
considered not the miracle of the loaves: [F]or their heart was hardened. • Then they that were in the
ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
