¶ Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. • After two days
was the feast of the Passover, and of unleavened bread: • A[nd] it came to pass, when Jesus had finished
all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and
the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes,
and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the chief priest, who was called Caiaphas, • and the
chief priests and the scribes sought • [a]nd consulted {that / how} they might take • Jesus by {subtility, /
craft,} and {put him to death / kill him.} But they said, Not on the feast day, [L]est there be an uproar
among the people • for they feared the people. •

¶ Now when Jesus {was / being} • in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, • [t]here they
made him a supper; and Martha served: [B]ut Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. •
[A]s he sat at meat, • [t]here came unto him a woman[.] • Then took Mary • having an alabaster box of •
a pound of • very precious ointment • of spikenard • very costly, • and she break the box, • and poured
it on his head, as he sat at meat • and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: [A]nd
the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. • But when his disciples saw it, • there were some
that had indignation within themselves, • saying, To what purpose is this waste? • [A]nd said, Why was
this waste of the ointment made? • Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which
should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? •
For this ointment might have been sold for much, • more than three hundred pence, and have been
given to the poor. And they murmured against her. • This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but
because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. • When Jesus understood it, •
[t]hen Jesus • said unto them, • Let her alone; why trouble ye • the woman? [F]or she hath wrought a
good work upon me. • [A]gainst the day of my burying hath she kept this. • For ye have the poor with
you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: [B]ut me ye have not always. She hath done
