Redaction: The Time of Trouble

           MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN

the one shall be taken, and the other left. • And take heed to yourselves, • watch and pray: • [L]est at
any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkeness, and cares of this life, and so that
day come upon you unawares • for ye know not when the time is. • For as a snare shall it come on all

them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. • For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who
left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to everyman his work, and commanded the
       porter to watch.
       -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
¶ Watch ye therefore: • [A]nd pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all

these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. • [F]or ye know not • what hour
       • when • your Lord • the master of the house • {doth come / cometh} at even, or at midnight, or at the
cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I
say unto all, Watch. • But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief

would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready: [F]or in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a
faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due
season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto
you, [t]hat he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his evil

heart, My lord delayeth his coming; [a]nd shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink
with the drunken; [t]he lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an
hour that he is not aware of, [a]nd shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the
hypocrites: [T]here shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. • And in the day time he was teaching in

the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. And all
the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him. •
