Redaction: The Time of Trouble

           MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN

perish. • But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. • In your patience possess ye
your souls. • And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in allthe world for a witness unto all
nations; and then shall the end come. •

       -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
¶ But • [w]hen ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the
prophet, • standing • in the holy place, • where it ought not, (let him • whoso • that readeth understand,)
       • And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is
nigh. Then let them which are in Judæa flee • into the mountains: • [A]nd let them which are in the midst

of it depart out; • [a]nd let him that is on the housetop not {go / come} • down into the house, neither
enter therein, to take anything out of his house: •
       -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
¶ Neither let him which is in the field return back • again for to take up his {garment / clothes} •
and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all

things which are written may be fulfilled. {But / And} woe unto them that are with child, and to them that
give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
For then • in those days shall be • great {tribulation / affliction}, • such as was not since the beginning •
of the creation • of the world • which God created unto • this time, no, {nor / neither} • ever shall be. •

[F]or there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the
edge of the sword, and shall be lead away captive into all nations: [A]nd Jerusalem shall be trodden
down of the Gentiles, until the times of the gentiles be fulfilled. • And except that the Lord had
shortened those days, • there should no flesh be saved: • [B]ut for the elect’s sake, whom he hath
chosen, he hath shortened the days. • Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, • or, lo, he

is there; believe him not: • For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great
signs and wonders; • to seduce, • insomuch that • if it were possible, • they shall deceive • even • the
very elect. • But take ye heed: [B]ehold, I have fortold you • before • all things. • Wherefore if they shall
say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth, behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it
