Redaction: The Covenant with Many

           MATTHEW MARK LUKE JOHN

time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: • [B]ehold, • it is enough, the hour is come •
at hand, and • behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise up, • let us be going: •

[L]o, • behold he is at hand that doth betray me. •

¶ And immediately, while he yet spake, • lo, • behold • Judas, one of the twelve, • then, having
received • with him • a band of men and officers • a great multitude with swords and staves, • from the
chief priests and Pharisees, • and the scribes and the elders • of the people • cometh thither with
lanterns and torches and weapons. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him,

went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto
them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto
them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye?
And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: [I]f therefore ye seek me,

let these go their way: That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest
me have I lost none. • And he that betrayed him had given them a {token, / sign} • saying, Whomsoever
I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, • hold him fast • and lead him away safely. • And forthwith • as
soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to • Jesus, and said, Hail, master[.] • [A]nd kissed him. •

¶ And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? • Judas, betrayest thou the Son of
man with a kiss? • Then came they, and laid • their • hands on Jesus, and took him. • When they which
were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? •

¶ And, behold, • [t]hen Simon Peter • one of them which were with Jesus • that stood by •

stretched out his hand, • having a sword • drew his sword, and struck • and smote the high priest’s
servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, • Put up
again thy sword • into {the sheath: / his place} [F]or all they that take the sword shall perish with the
sword. • Suffer ye thus far. • [T]he cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? • And he
touched his ear, and healed him. • Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall
