DISCOVERY CENTRAL OF VIETNAM
MY SON HOLYLAND (HOI AN)
The Mỹ Sơn holyland complex is regarded as one of the foremost Hindu temple
complexes in Southeast Asia and is the foremost heritage site of this nature in Vietnam.
As of 1999, My Son has been recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site, 50 km
southwest of Hoi An. Located in a lush valley.
HUE CITADEL CITY
Hue is intimately connected to the imperial Nguyễn Dynasty, based in Hue, who ruled
from 1802 to 1945, when the Emperor Bao Dai abdicated in favor of Ho Chi Minh's
revolutionary government
The main landmark is the Perfume River (Hương Giang), with the old city and the
Citadel on the north side and the newer city, including most hotels and restaurants, on
the south side
*Imperial Citadel (Đại Nội): The former imperial seat of government and Hue's prime
attraction.
*Ngọ Môn. The main southern entrance to the city, built in 1833 by Minh Mang.
*Thái Hòa Palace. The emperor's coronation hall.
*Tombs of the Emperors.
*Thien Mu Pagoda (4km) - perched on a bluff over the river and housing some very fine
gold and silver Buddha images.
CHAM ISLANDS (DA NANG)
The Cham Islands: constitute a group of 8 small islands of Quảng Nam, which form a
part of the Cu Lao Cham Marine Park, a world Biosphere Reserve recognized by
UNESCO in 2009, in South China Sea in Vietnam. The islands are approachable from
Cửa Đại beach. The islands are also recognized as Vietnam’s national scenic site.
The islands grouped under the Cham Islands are: Lao Island (Pearl), Long Island, Tomb
Island, Hòn Khô mẹ, Hòn Khô con (dry), Leaf Island, ear Island and Hòn Ông (east
wind). The Cham Islands are under the administration of Tan Hiep Commune of Hoi An
city in Quang Nam province.
