New Executive Director of Canara Bank
Mr. Debashish Mukherjee has taken charge as Executive Director of Canara Bank on 19th February,
2018. Previously, hs has worked as General Manage of United Bank of India. He has vast expriance in
Corporate Credit and worked as GM (Credit) for more than 5 years. He worked as GM (Recovery &
Credit Monitoring) thereafter.

Vijay Bank gets new Executive Director

Murali Ramaswami has taken charge as Executive Director of Vijaya Bank with effect from February
19. He is a commerce graduate, MBA in Finance, CAIIB and Qualified Cost Accountant.Ramaswami
had joined Vijaya Bank as Manager in 1989 and headed various branches and regions across India and
many other departments at the corporate office. Prior to his elevation as Executive Director, he was
General Manager-Credit (Operations) as well as the Chief Financial Officer of the bank.

Indu Malhotra recommended directly for SC judgeship
The Supreme Court collegiums had first time recommended senior advocate Indu Malhotra as the
first woman lawyer to be directly appointed as a judge of the apex court. Sheis a senior counsel
practising in the Supreme Court for the past 30 years. She was the second woman to be designated
senior advocate by the apex court in 2007.

Malhotra would be one of only seven women judges that the top court has had so far since indepen-
Vijay Gokhale dence. At present, Justice R Banumathi is the lone woman judge in the apex court.

K. Sivan appointed as Space Secretary

Folowing tenure completion of Mr. Kiran Kumar,Dr. K. Sivan, the Rocket Scientist, shall preside as Sec-
retary of the Department of Space, and Chairman of the Space Commission and the Indian Space Re-
search Organisation (ISRO), with a term of three years. "Previous legendary leaders such as Vikram
Sarabhai and Satish Dhawan have set high standards for the department. It is a big responsibility and
honour on me to take it forward in their footsteps", said Sivan. A graduate in aeronautical engineer-
ing from the Madras Institute of Technology, ME from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and
doctorate in aerospace engineering from IIT Bombay, Dr. Sivan became Director of VSSC in June 2015. K. Sivan
He joined ISRO in 1982 in the then young PSLV project and has been project director of the GSLV
rocket.

Vijay Gokhale as Foreign secretary

Gokhale, an IFS of 1981 batch would succeed S. Jaishankar as India's Foreign Secretary At present, he
is serving as secretary for economic relations in the ministry of external affairs (MEA).
Gokhale, a postgraduate in history from Delhi University, is known among his colleagues as someone
who would speak his mind on policy matters rather than merely pursue orders. He was country's
Vijay Gokhale ambassador to Chine from January 2016 to October 2017.
