               Oriental Bank of Commerce Celebrating 75 Years of Excellence

         The journey of Oriental Bank of Commerce is a mirror of galloping Indian aspirations,  it began 4 years before an
                                                                independent India was born when Rai Bahadur Lala
                                                                Sohan Lal ji Banks first chairman  conceived the idea of
                                                                floating a bank in the year 1943 .
                                                                On 19th February, 1943, Oriental Bank of Commerce
                                                                came into existence with its first head office at Lahore,
                                                                Pakistan. The first branch was opened in April 1943 at
                                                                Mohan Lal Road, Lahore. At the end of year 1944 the
                                                                bank had a network of 6 branches with Deposits of 82
                                                                Lacs and Advances of 30 Lacs.

                                                                Banks Head office was shifted from Lahore to Amritsar
                                                                in 1947 and then to New Delhi in 1951. Bank was
                                                                nationalised on 15th April 1980 and currently has its
                                                                Corporate Office in Gurugram.
         Over the year's bank's branch network has risen considerably from 1st branch in 1943 to 1000 branches in 2004 & 2381
         branches and 2630 ATMs at present. Also during this Journey Bank has amalgamated Punjab Cooperative Bank Ltd &
         Bari Doab Bank Ltd in 1997 & Global Trust Bank in 2004.
         Oriental Bank of Commerce celebrated its 75 years of operations on 19th February, 2018 and to commemorate the
         occasion, Banks Coffee table book & new website was launched by the chief guest Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, Hon'ble Minister
         of State, Finance, Govt. of India, Delhi in the presence of Shri T.M. Bhasin, VC, CVC, Shri Mukesh Kumar Jain, MD & CEO,
         Oriental Bank, Shri Himanshu Joshi, ED, Oriental Bank and many dignitaries and employees of the Bank. The Coffee
         Table book is a treasure trove of rare information assembled and does not just list facts and figures but also include rare
         antique photographs, collaterals and instruments of the bank from its early days. The new website of the bank has been
         designed so that its becomes customer friendly and bank is able to promote all the products & services .
         Shri Mukesh Kumar Jain, MD & CEO of the Bank, in his address to the Employees highlighted the journey of Oriental
         Bank of Commerce and the great contribution of Team OBC towards propelling the Bank to great heights.
         Shri Himanshu Joshi commented "we aspire to emerge as a Preferred Bank by pursuing global benchmarks in operational
         efficiency, asset quality, profitability, risk management and expanding the global reach".

                                     Banking Excellence Awards 2017

         ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India) every year aims at awarding those financial
         institutions that have been successful in creating a fundamentally strong and resilient social bank. The  13th Annual
         "Social Banking Excellence Awards, 2017", organised by ASSOCHAM was held   at Hotel Lalit Mumbai on 17.02.2018
         under chairmanship of  Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, Minister of State for Finance, Government of India.
         United Bank of India has bagged the prestigious "Social Banking Excellence Awards 2017" under three following
         categories:-
         1. Winner in " Participation in Govt. Scheme (Medium size Bank)"
         2. Runner up in " Overall Best Social Bank (Medium size Bank)."

         3. Runner up in "Priority Sector Lending Other Than Agriculture (Medium size Bank)".
         Shri Vinod Kumar Babbar, General Manager & Chief Regional Manager Mumbai had received the Awards on behalf of
         the Bank from Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, Minister of State for Finance, Government of India.
