They help each of the member industries to have the
combined resources of all the member industries at their
disposal. This applies to the physical resources in terms
of hardware, human resources of manpower, experience
and expertise.
Pooling of resources of the member industries is an
optimum way of meeting the needs of each of the units
on a community basis in a disaster. It is really impossible
for any individual industrial unit to have adequate
resources to tackle a catastrophic disaster.
The best defence is to have adequate resources in the
neighbouring industrial units committed for stand-by use,
with adequate communication channels and a plan for
rapid transportation of men, material and equipment to
the stricken areas. Most important of such resources
are fire fighting materials and equipments.
