                        Those among the nations said,
                       “They shall no longer dwell here.” 7 Our fathers sinned and are no more,
                                                               But we bear their iniquities.
                        The face of the LORD scattered them;  8  Servants rule over us;
                     16
                        He no longer regards them. There is none to deliver us from their
                        The people do not respect the priests hand.
                        Nor show favor to the elders. 9 We get our bread at the risk of our lives,
                     17 Still our eyes failed us, Because of the sword in the wilderness.
                        Watching vainly for our help; 10 Our skin is hot as an oven,
                        In our watching we watched Because of the fever of famine.
                        For a nation that could not save us. 11 They ravished the women in Zion,
                     18 The maidens in the cities of Judah.
                        They tracked our steps
                        So that we could not walk in 12 Princes were hung up by their hands,
                           our streets. And elders were not respected.
                        Our end was near;                   13  Young men ground at the millstones;
                        Our days were over, Boys staggered under loads of wood.
                        For our end had come. 14 The elders have ceased gathering
                                                                 at the gate,
                     19 Our pursuers were swifter And the young men from their music.
                        Than the eagles of the heavens.
                        They pursued us on the mountains    15  The joy of our heart has ceased;
                        And lay in wait for us in the wilderness. Our dance has turned into mourning.
                                                            16 The crown has fallen from our head.
                     20 The breath of our nostrils, the anointed Woe to us, for we have sinned!
                           of the LORD,                     17  Because of this our heart is faint;
                        Was caught in their pits, Because of these things our eyes grow
                        Of whom we said, “Under his shadow       dim;
                        We shall live among the nations.”
                                                               Because of Mount Zion which

                           Edom, With foxes walking about on it.
                        You who dwell in the land of Uz!    19  You, O LORD, remain forever;
                        The cup shall also pass over to you Your throne from generation
                        And you shall become drunk and make to generation.
                           yourself naked.
                                                               Why do You forget us forever,
                                                            20
                     22 The punishment of your iniquity is And forsake us for so long a time?
                           accomplished, 21 Turn us back to You, O LORD, and we
                        O daughter of Zion;                      will be restored;
                        He will no longer send you into Renew our days as of old,

                        He will punish your iniquity, And are very angry with us!
                        O daughter of Edom;
                        He will uncover your sins! Psalm 119:145–152
