                                                                                    DECEMBER 10
                        Because they refused to repent.        He found Him in Bethel,
                     6  And the sword shall slash in his cities,  And there He spoke to us—
                        Devour his districts,               5  That is, the LORD God of hosts.
                        And consume them,                      The LORD is His memorable name.
                        Because of their own counsels.      6  So you, by the help of your God, return;
                        My people are bent on backsliding      Observe mercy and justice,

                           from Me.                            And wait on your God continually.
                        Though they call to the Most High,  7  “A cunning Canaanite!
                        None at all exalt Him.
                                                               Deceitful scales are in his hand;
                       “How can I give you up, Ephraim?
                     8                                         He loves to oppress.
                        How can I hand you over, Israel?    8  And Ephraim said,
                        How can I make you like Admah?        ‘Surely I have become rich,
                        How can I set you like Zeboiim?        I have found wealth for myself;
                        My heart churns within Me;             In all my labors
                        My sympathy is stirred.                They shall find in me no iniquity
                     9  I will not execute the fierceness        that is sin.’

                       “Ephraim feeds on the wind,             Therefore his Lord will leave the guilt
                   12 And pursues the east wind;                 of his bloodshed upon him,
                        He daily increases lies and desolation.  And return his reproach upon him.
                        Also they make a covenant with the
