Applications
The team is currently developing a SAPPO mobile application that will host all
the organisation’s individual applications. Based on their WOP profile, users will
only gain access functions and data that they can access.
In addition to the foundational application, a veterinary module within the
application is being developed. This module will allow veterinarians to log
passive disease surveillance- and internal and external audit data to the WoP
where members will also be able to view the data. SAPPO’s Veterinary
Manager will be able to manage users and assign external audits to
veterinarians registered in WoP.
After the veterinary module has been launched, development of a new BDM
application will commence. The new BDM application will allow farmers
assisted by the BDM’s to also register in the WoP and for SAPPO to improve the
intelligence collected in the BDM programme.
Meat Trade Database
SAPPO is always seeking ways to stimulate exports and gain access to foreign
export markets and ensure that imports adhere to national standards and
international trade agreements. A key requirement for monitoring and
stimulating trade is the availability of reliable trade data. SAPPO identified the
need to create a central repository of meat trade data that will host import
and export data of key meat products and provide access to participating
stakeholders.
The BI team is working with TradeData and Acctech to create a central
database that will host trade data on pork, poultry, beef and lamb products.
SAPPO will make this database available to its members through the WoP and
to the South African Feedlot Association and the Association of Meat
Importers and Exporters (AMIE).
