Asharp break from her rail post helped Shez Wired Up score the victory in the $25,000 Victoria Ennis Memorial Stakes for Paint and Appaloosa two- year-olds at Remington Park on April 24.

Shez Wired Up was sent to post as the 2-1 favorite in the field of nine and returned a $6.20 win mutuel. The filly was bred in Oklahoma by Arthur Devereaux and is out of Sheza Pretty Jesse, a winning Quarter Horse homebred daughter of the Mr Jess Perry stal- lion Jesse James Jr.

New Mexico Breeders’ S.-RG3
ELL VALENTINO
by Michael Compton
New Mexico breds were front and center at SunRay Park for the running of the New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes-RG3. It was a 400 yard
three-year-old stakes that carried a total purse of $56,800. Ell Valentino loaded into the 5-post and when the starter pushed the button he was 4th from the gates. Within a few strides, he found his way and at the halfway point was a 1/2-length in front.
Showing his breeding, El Valentino coasted to
a 1/2-length victory. Jockey Martin Felix showed a lot of hustle to help his mount to get to the front for the geldings’ connections, who include owner Pedro Carrillo and trainer Beatriz Sanchez-Carillo.
Bred in New Mexico by Roberto Chacon, El Valentino is out of multiple stakes finalist/winner Hot Hot Baby Doll. She has produced three foals. Ell Valentino is her top earner.
Wisho (Next Bandit TB-Little Bit Southern) stepped away in great shape at the break. Then he seemed to flounder a little bit, but with encourage- ment from jockey Alonso Rivera, they made a game effort to pocket second place money for owner Edilberto Cano Estrada and trainer Ivan Tafoya.
Blazinberryberryfast (Osbaldo- Strawberryberryfast) broke generically on the out- side, but she dug in and was able to bank the third place check. She is owned by Hubaldo Solis and trained by Ivan Tafoya. Kevin Enriquez-Arenivas was in the irons.
El Chevo (Osbaldo-Now I Know I Can TB), Western Sandman (Saturday Nite Romeo-Queen Lavita), Mr Big (Big Daddy Cartel-Sixy Streak), Famous Clyde (Winners Version-Miss Dash
Ta Dial), Star Bridge (Woodbridge-Starsmith), Woody Valentin (Woodbridge-Dolly Little Bug) and Sissy One (Big Daddy Cartel-First Dawn Dash) completed the order of finish. Hops Flying High was scratched.
