Easily A Possum Classic
FERARRI B
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
The classic in honor of the great runner Easily A Possum was held March 14 with the participation of seven of the eight horses reg- istered, since the filly AR Dashin Waggin was withdrawn last minute. They ran at a distance of 350 yards for a purse amount of $307,600 pesos (approx. $14,693 U.S.).
Being designated as the first jewel of the Quarter Horse Triple Crown at the Hipodromo de las Americas, this classic arouses special interest. After AR Dashin Waggin scratched, the favorite was One Happenstance, who in his previous out won the National Day Of The Charro Championship in his previous outing.
However, at the start of the race, it was Ferarri B who dominated the group clearly and cleanly, from post position number
7 under the direction of Valentín Miguel Castro. Until mid-course it was Sweet Lil Ivory who took the lead at an impressive speed on the inside rail, but soon relented positions to close in second place.
Ferarri B debuted suc- cessfully on the racetrack in the Mexican capital, where
in this classic he also broke
his maiden after five second places at different racetracks in the United States. His last start was on Sept. 25, 2020, at Will Rogers Downs. He trav- eled the distance in :17.21 for a 93 speed index in this event.
