Tom and Kathleen McNally know their homebred Jess My Hocks as “Bull,” the stable name they gave him.
“Bull has got a real personality,” said Kathleen. “He kind of just bulls his way around in the barn. He’s pretty strong, but he’s not malicious.”
The McNallys should know because they not only bred and race Jess My Hocks, they raised him as well at their home and traveled to see him win the $151,855 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship-G3 on Oct. 24.
With Mario Delgado aboard, Jess My Hocks broke fifth, but flew late to grab the vic- tory by a neck in :19.406.
“He just bulls his way and goes through— the name fits him well,” said Kathleen.
The McNallys praised Michelle Hurdle, who trains Jess My Hocks, though due to COVID restrictions, Jordan Baumann was the trainer of record in the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship.
