Jess My Hock’s winning connections include owners Tom and Kathleen McNally, trainer Jordan Baumann and jockey Mario Delgado.
“We have the best trainer in the world,” said Kathleen. “She is amazing.”
Also amazing is the McNallys’ homebred mare
Jess Charlena. Tom bought Charlenas Cleat, Jess My Hocks’ second dam, along with two or three other mares in eastern Oklahoma. Bred to Take Off Jess, Charlenas Cleat produced 2-time winner Jess Charlena.
“We’re just blessed to have the three horses out of this mare that we’ve got,” said Tom.
Jess Charlena has three starters who all ran the weekend of the Challenge Championships. Stakes winner Charlies Fury was fourth in the Bank of America Challenge Championship-G1 on the same card. Stakes-placed Charlenas Relentless qualified for the Black Gold Lads Futurity at Will Rogers Downs the following day.
Jesus Valenzuela piloted Dr Tool (Kiss My Hocks-Where Eagles Soar) to second for owner Luis Gonzalez and trainer Sergio Ibarra. A Painted Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Third Painted Sign) ran third under jockey Alfredo Sigala for owner David Gutierrez and trainer Santos Carrizales Jr.
Completing the field were Mott The Hopple (Dashair-SR Rode Tah Glory), Juice
Is Loose (One Famous Eagle-Miss Southern DD), Astranomical (Dominyun-Quick Moon Sign), Light Footed (Stel Corona-Chickafirst), Apollitical Barbie (Apollitical Blood-Hott Feett), Luchador (Valiant Hero-Madresita) and Mister Tornado (Sports Cartel-Spanish Sola Mark). Divas First Moon was scratched.
Jess My Hocks and Mario Delgado are received after their victory.
