   MISTER RIPTIDE MISTER RIPTIDE
Mister Riptide (Woodbridge-Ms Riptide, Ocean Runaway) was injured in his Nov. 7 trial to the Texas Classic Derby-G1 at Lone Star Park and was euthanized. The 2017 sorrel gelding was bred by MJ Farms and owned by Mark and Annette McCloy. Mister Riptide won the 2019 Zia Futurity-RG1, 2020 Zia Derby-RG2, was second by a neck in the 2019 All American Futurity-G1 and a finalist in the Mountain Top New Mexico Futurity-RG2. In all, Mister Riptide earned $748,298 in his two-season career.

2004 Thoroughbred stallion Monterey Jazz (Thunderello-Reefside, Dynaformer) died
Dec. 3. Monterey Jazz, who had been stand- ing at Sierra Blanca Equine in New Mexico, earned $760,841 while winning nine races
and four Graded stakes races, including the Strub Stakes-G2 at Santa Anita, and set a New Course Record for 1 mile at Hollywood Park. Monterey Jazz is the sire of multiple blacktype runners with $601,650 in Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse money earners, including top earner Ancient Land TB (2020, $180,546) who won the 2020 Four Rivers John Deere Stakes at Sunland Park and the 2019 Steve Prather Stakes at Zia Park.

MONTEREY JAZZ TB MR JESS JENKINS
2019 All American Futurity Winner Mr Jess Jenkins (Apollitical Jess-Fetching Image, Dashing Cleat) was euthanized due to problems from a right stifle injury he suffered following a second-place finish after being brushed at the midway point
in the Remington Park Derby on April 18. The 2017 sorrel gelding was bred by V.H. Harman Jr. and Robert Moudy III, owned by Jose E. Guzman and Rito Sosa, trained by Marcos Carrizales, and ridden by James A. Flores. Mr Jess Jenkins won four of eight starts and earned $1,631,022 during his two seasons on the track. “The plan was to save him,” stated Guzman. “He was a really nice horse, and I feel so bad.”
NO BRAKES NOW
No Brakes Now (The Signature-Timeto Brake, Timeto Thinkrich) died at the age of 29 on July 28 at his longtime home with owners Bob and Gary Johnson in Lemmon, South Dakota. Bred by Haberfelde Ranch, the brown stakes placed stallion won one race during his career. No Brakes Now is the sire of 57 winners from 109 starters and earners of over $625,000, including 13 stakes winners and AQHA show point earners.
MR JESS JENKINS PC FRENCHMANS HAYDAY
PC Frenchmans Hayday, aka Dinero, died March 23 at the age of 25. Purchased by Mel and Wendy Potter at two years of age, Dinero won the six-head rodeo team roping event with World Champion Heeler Cory Petska, and was fourth in the world in Team Roping and 6th in the world in Steer Wrestling. World Champion barrel racer Sherry Cervi rode Dinero in the National Finals Rodeo. He had seven qualifica- tions to the NFR with over $600,000 in PRCA earnings. Dinero is the sire of over $4.1 million, including two World Champions.
PYC PAINT YOUR WAGON
PYC Paint Your Wagon (Corona Cartel-Dashin Follies, Strawfly Special) was laid to rest at Lazy E Ranch on March 11 at the age of 17 following a cancer diagnosis. Bred and raced
by Michael Pohl, the 2003 stallion won seven races with earnings of $889,581, including
the Texas Classic Futurity-G1, Heritage Place Derby-G1, Texas Classic Derby-G1 and Lazy
E Futurity-RG2. PYC Paint Your Wagon was retired in 2007 to begin his stud career, and he moved to Lazy E Ranch in 2014 when Gary and Micah McKinney of Reliance Ranches LLC became partners in the stallion with Michael Pohl. PYC Paint Your Wagon is the sire of 116
