Texas Hero P&A Futurity-G1

Visiting the winner’s circle is nothing new to Cheyennenews, and his latest visit came in the Texas Hero Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1, run at 350-yards at Lone Star Park with a purse of $79,070.
Cheyennenews came into the finals after setting the fastest mark in the Nov. 27 trials. The Dec. 18 finals saw the gelding step away from the 10 post, getting
the first call. Jockey Fransisco Calderon had ridden
him twice before, winning both. The jockey offered encouragement for the first half of the race, then coasted to a 1/2-length win in :17.567 for a 97 speed index.
Cheyennenews also earned the first place check worth $30,047, which ups his lifetime earnings to $71,001, and his race record stands at four wins out of eight races, including a third in the Colors of the Alamo P&A Futurity-G2 and a fourth in the PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity. His team incudes owner Michael Read and trainer Randy Read. He was bred in Texas by Four Cross Horse Co. and is the first starter out of stakes winner Deflash.
DTL Hot Wired (MHM Hotwire-Shez Showin Off), winner of the Tulsa State Fair Stakes, broke clean under Cody Smith and fought off all challengers except one. His connections include owner Robin Haggard and trainer Ty Blackwell.
Tenth fastest qualifier De Quick Capo (Capo De Capi QH-Ritas Quick Flash) made the best of her opportunity by finishing third. She is owned by Fernando D Beltran and trained by Xavier Alonzo III. Edgar Ibarra was handling the reins.

Yellow Rose of Texas Stakes-G3

SS Classyjess, a 5-year-old gray daughter of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Rock Solid Jess, was a prompt 3-10 favorite in the 400-yard $47,300 Yellow Rose of Texas Stakes for state-bred fillies and mares at Lone Star Park on Dec. 18.
Saddled by Jose Carrizales for owner Edgar Rosales and aided by a reported 14-mph tail wind, SS Classyjess led at every call while defeating Jess A Dashin Angela by a clear 1 1/2-lengths in :19.609. Juan I. Garcia rode the mare, who recorded a 98 speed index from her 10th lifetime stakes win.
SS Classyjess earned the $29,700 winner’s share of the purse. The mare was bred by Ronnie Stewart and Double S Farm, and she is out of High Class Broad, an unplaced daughter of the Royal Quick Dash stallion Royal Shake Em.
SS Classyjess was coming off of a second-place finish, a head behind winner Miss Famous Eagle,
in the 400-yard $30,500 Paragon Oaks Stakes for distaffers at Lone Star Park on Nov. 27. Raced in two states, including Louisiana, the mare has won 19 of 41 starts -- including seven of 12 at Lone Star Park and four of seven at the 400-yard distance -- and she has banked $437,856.
SS Classyjess’ resume includes a 3/4-length victory in last year’s Yellow Rose of Texas Stakes.
Jess A Dashin Angela (Dash Master Jess-Mi Angela) was second for owner Cesar Rosales. Ricardo Garza-Cruz rode the homebred filly for trainer Rolando Almanza.
My Rockin Memories (Rock Solid Jess-Good Ole Memories) ran third, 2 1/4-lengths behind SS Classyjess, and banked $4,950 for owner Sarah Huskey. Mario Delgado rode the homebred 3-year- old filly for trainer Esteban Rubio.
Tempting Knockout (Tempting Dash-Passem Up Perry) and Apollitical Mogul (Apollitical Jess-Cash Cartel) completed the order of finish.
Lone Star 870 Battle Of The Breeds

Making his first start for the team of owner Carl R. Moore Management LLC and trainer Esteban Rubio, SLP Mighty High scored a wire-to-
wire victory in the Lone Star 870 Battle of the Breeds Stakes for Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds at Lone Star Park on Dec. 18.
SLP Mighty High defeated Beta Capo Song TB by 2 1/2-lengths in :45.793, a clocking aided down the stretch by a reported 14-mph tail wind. Victor Urieta Jr. rode the 8-year-old gelding, who completed the race leading from start to finish.
SLP Mighty High was bred in Oklahoma by Scott and Lindsey Pruett, and he was claimed by his connections for $7,500 out of the first of three Battle of The Breeds Stakes trials on Dec. 3.
The gelding is out of unplaced Red Ruby Slippers, a daughter of On A High. His second dam, the winning mare Nurse Dorothy, ran third in the 1997 Belles Stakes at Fair Meadows in Tulsa.
Raced in three states, including Iowa and Louisiana, SLP Mighty High has won 12 of 33 starts -- including six of 11 at the 870-yard trip -- and the $23,288 winner’s share of the $58,220 Battle of the Breeds purse pushed his bankroll to $106,176, of which $73,156 has been earned in his 870 outs.
Runner-up Beta Capo Song TB (Beta Capo- Unforgettable Song) pocketed $11,644 to bring his earnings to $124,438 from 70 races. Alfredo Contreras rode the gelding for owner/trainer Mark Hibdon.
Jack With Seven TB (Too Much Bling-Foolish Girl) finished third under Jarred Journet and earned $7,278 for his owner/trainer Mark Hibdon, who also trained the 7-year-old gelding.
Jess Paint Me Quick (PYC Paint Your Wagon-My Girl Jessie) ran fourth and was followed by Slugger Dale (Wagons West-Donna Secret) and Red Red Wine TB (Half Ours-Rebirth).
