(Dec. 28) - Longtime horseman Henry Jay Bowlan, 81, passed away in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. Henry was born in 1940, attended Murray State College and East Central

MARY PRICE
(Dec. 18) - Mary Price, 81, passed away at her home in Marietta, Oklahoma. Mary, the wife of horseman Bill Price, was born in 1940 and was raised in Oil City. She and Bill were married in 1956, and they farmed and ranched and worked in the oilfield. The Price’s had many successful horses over the years, and they were the breeders/owners of 2002 Champion 3 Year Old, Champion 3-Year- Old Gelding A Real Man. Mary was devoted to her family, was kind and compassionate, had a keen sense of humor, and enjoyed helping others. She was a member of the Shady Dale Baptist Church.

Henry worked as a police officer, as a sales rep for veterinary supplies, and as a farm manager. His passion was raising Quarter Horses and Paints, and he and Linda established Bowlan Farms. Their Quarter Horse stallion Shawne Bug, who was inducted into the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2020, helped
them become a premier breeding facility; and their Paint stallion Judys Lineage was inducted into the Paint Horse Hall of Fame in 2019. Henry was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association. He served on the boards of
(Dec. 28) - Steven “Tip” Burdell Tipping, 64, passed away. Born in 1957 in Ogden, Utah, Tipping was involved in rodeo and riding. In high school, he began riding race horses and for the next 30 years he traveled across the country as a jockey. He earned leading jockey titles at Rupert, Burley and Pocatello in Idaho, riding the earners
of nearly $400,000. After riding his
last race in 2021, Tipping worked for
a nutraceutical company. Perhaps the best horses he rode were Cowboy Classic Futurity-G3 winner Baby Its Tonight and Boise Derby-G3 winner Samjun.
He was known for his keen sense of understanding animals and his sense
of humor.
