ONE FREIGHTTRAIN
by Michael Compton
One Freighttrain simply powered away from nine rivals to score a resounding victory in the $196,480 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG3
at Retama Park on Aug. 19, becoming a graded stakes winner in just his fifth lifetime start.
Ridden by jockey Raul Ramirez Jr., One Freighttrain broke alertly and dueled on the front end throughout. After wrestling the early lead away from Kas Tuff LBH, One Freighttrain asserted his superiority through the lane of the 350-yard
event. He powered home without a serious challenge, crossing the finish 1 1/4-lengths in front of a rallying Copper Pipes who finished second. In winning his third straight race and first stakes event, One Freighttrain, who was sent off as the 3-1 second wagering choice in the field of 10, stopped the timer in :17.828, earning a 97 speed index.
Owned by AA Farms LLC and trained
by Miguel Castillo, One Freighttrain improved his record to 5-3-1-1. With the $78,592 winner’s share of the purse, the brown gelding has now amassed earnings of $98,732. AA Farms acquired the TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity winner for $36,000 at the 2022 LQHBA Yearling Sale. Bred in Louisiana by Leroy Fontenot Jr., One Freighttrain is out
of the Dashin Bye mare Swiftone, who was winless in three tries during
her racing career.
One Freighttrain broke
his maiden in his third career start, taking a 300-yard dash over a sloppy track at Sam Houston in June. He returned and dominated his rivals
in his trial dash on Aug. 4, notching a front-running 2 3/4-length victory.
Runner-up Copper
Pipes (Flying Cowboy 123-Tacarosie), overlooked at
odds of 30-1, finished strongly under jockey Jose Martinez to grab the place spot for owner Oscar Rivera Cardona. Trained by J.B. Morace, Copper Pipes is winless in five starts, but has hit the board in all. Sammy Joe (Hawkeye-Sams First Girl), with jockey Alejandro Zuniga in the irons, dueled throughout and held third, just a head behind Copper Pipes in second. Sammy
Joe is campaigned by Javier Arturo Castro and is trained by Jose Camacho.
Lefty (This Is An Eagle-Last Street Onthleft), Kas Tuff LBH (Kas Tempting-Tuff Princess LBH), CR DMJ Policy (Dash Master Jess-BP Tres Seis Policy), Grand Hercules (Freighttrain B-Geaux Blue), Muddy Hits The Mark (Muddy Watters-Tia Aurora TB), Fire Hot V (KVN Corona-Sixy Chamisa), and JMG One Hott Eagle (This Is An Eagle-Sha) completed the order of finish.
ALLIEKAT DYNASTY
by Michael Compton
Fastest qualifier Alliekat Dynasty left little mystery as to who was best of the day in the $202,600 OHA Mystery Futurity-RG2 at Will
Rogers Downs on Sept. 25. The daughter of FDD Dynasty simply toyed with her competition in the 350-yard event, winning as she pleased under jockey Roman Cruz for her fifth consecutive victory.
Alliekat Dynasty broke fastest of all and assumed command early. She cleared off by a length in the lane and powered home to score by 3-lengths at the finish. Alliekat Dynasty covered
the distance in the fast time of :17.355, earning a speed index of 105. The filly’s final clocking was just ticks away from the :17.257 track record set by Regard Watah in 2013.
With the $81,540 winner’s share of the purse, Alliekat Dynasty raised her career bankroll to $149,691. The win also improved her overall record to 6-5-0-0 for owner Arrowhead Racing (Anita Ruiz) and trainer
Jesus Ruiz. In addition to the OHA Mystery Futurity, Alliekat Dynasty won the FL Lady Bug Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park in May. She broke her maiden in her second try in April, also at Remington Park. Since the maiden-breaking effort, Alliekat Dynasty has proved unbeatable, winning five straight outings.
Bred in Oklahoma by Jahree Standridge, Alliekat Dynasty is produced from the stakes winner and Graded stakes-placed Apollitical Jess mare Pollitical Scorpion. Winner of the 2016 Easy Date Handicap
at Remington, Pollitical Scorpion finished third in the Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity-G3 as a 2 year old
in 2015. All told, she banked $108,694 for Standridge.
Runner-up I Rule The Dynasty (Jess Lips-Dynasty First Class) broke out after the start under Juan Pulido but rallied strongly late to finish second. Brant Barley owns the bay gelding who is trained
by Waylan Melton. I Rule The Dynasty, who broke his maiden in
his 2nd lifetime start in May, was bred in Oklahoma by Dunn Ranch. He finished 2nd, beaten just a neck by Jess A Frenchy Girl in his Sept. 11 trial heat.
Mystic Paint (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jess So Sixy) dueled throughout and finished third, a nose behind the runner-up. Ramiro Garcia piloted the brown colt for owner William Harned and trainer Jason Olmstead. Mystic Paint was a dominant winner of his trial heat, winning by 2 1/2-lengths. Cavenaugh Quarter Horses bred Mystic Paint in Oklahoma.
MFS Cheerio (KVN Corona-DF Apollitical Sign), Kams Relentless (Hes Relentless-PV Queen Bee Candy), Jess Folzookieing (Apollitical Jess-Tres Seis Folszookie), Jess A Frenchy Girl (Apollitical Jess-Veuve Clicquot), Lady Lew
(Big Lew-My Valiant Lady), Fashion Blood (Apollitical Blood-Fashioneesta), and Backside Bobby (Im a Fancy PYC-Royal Stiletto) completed the order of finish.
