PAINTED SEIS
by Michael Compton
Painted Seis captured the first stakes win of her career with a game victory in the $75,000 All American Oaks Invitational Overnight Stakes at
Ruidoso Downs on Sept. 2.
Ridden by Bryan Candanosa, Painted Seis raced
in third position early. She hooked up with Sweet Emylou in the lane and those two rivals dueled to the wire together with Painted Seis prevailing by a nose at the finish. In winning her first stakes race, Painted Seis stopped the timer in :21.922.
Owned by Danny Joe Miller and trained by Toby Keeton, Painted Seis improved her record to 9-5-1-0 and the $45,000 winner’s share of the purse upped her bankroll to $121,231.
Bred in Texas by Tyler and Nala Graham, Painted Seis is produced from the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Jakes Painted Wagon. She was a $62,000 purchase at the 2020 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Runner-up Sweet Emylou (FDD Dynasty- Imaqtpie), with Sergio Becerra aboard, just missed. Trained by John Stinebaugh, the 3-year-old filly races for Alfredo Casso and Chritine Asmussen. Sweet Emylou was a $32,000 graduate of the 2021 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
Jockey Noe Garcia Jr. guided Paige (Tempting Dash-Transaxle) to a third-place finish. The sorrel filly, who is owned by CNN Breeding and trained by Clinton Crawford, flashed speed and led early before being overtaken by the top two finishers. Paige was a $38,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.

Kiss The Cartel also finished second in the 2022 Rainbow Oaks-G1 and third in the 2022 Ruidoso Derby-G1.
The filly was bred by Flag Ranch LLC and out of the multiple graded stakes winning mare A Snowy Cartel, who won the 2010 Dash For Cash Futurity-G1 and the Manor Downs Futurity-G1.
Pops First Lady (Apollitical Jess-Shazooms Pop Pop) had a strong second place finish for owner Ruse Ranch LLC. Bryan Candanosa rode the filly for trainer Robi Meche. In 2022, Pops First Lady won
the Junos Request Stakes-G1 and the Easy Date Stakes-G3. Coming off a 4 race win-streak, Shesa Relentless Gal (Hes Relentless-A Snowy Cartel) finished third for owner Elva Rodriquez. JESS GOOD WINE
by John Moorehouse
Jess Good Wine turned in a vintage performance in the All American Invitational, winning the $100,000 stakes on Sept. 3 at Ruidoso Downs.
The gelding broke in emerging from the No. 2 gate but jockey Bryan Candanosa quickly recovered and had Jess Good Wine running in front by 1/2-length at the first call. Jess Good Wine held that advantage going into the stretch, then doubled his lead during the final yards to hit the wire first by a length.
For Jess Good Wine, this marked the second victory of the summer at the New Mexico track. The three-year-old gelding also won the Rainbow Invitational, held in July.
Toby Keeton trains Jess Good Wine, who finished the 440-yard out in :21.216 and registering a 95
speed index. Guns Up Racing owns the gelding and collected the $42,000 first-place prize, which boosted Jess Good Wine’s cumulative earnings to $158,757.
Flag Ranch LLC bred Jess Good Wine out of Mr Perrys Wine, who was a runner-up in the 2008 version of this race. She has produced 10 winners from 14 starters with Jess Good Wine being her second stakes winner.
Jessa Beast (Mr Jess Perry-Famous Corona Lady) finished second for Newman Cattle Company, LLC. The Trey Wood trainee had Christian Ramos aboard.
Out Of The Way (First Moonflash-Coronas Fast Honey) placed third for Leslie Amestoy, Pierre Jean Amestoy Jr., and Roger K. Beasley. The Heath Taylor trainee had Rodrigo Vallejo in the irons.
