St Bar, a leading sire of horses like 2-time Champion Aged Mare Little Blue Sheep, is the second dam of leading sire and 2002 Champion Aged Stallion Jess Louisiana Blue.
She won the 1956 Bright Eyes Stakes, and she was a finalist in eight other stakes with
a second in the Juvenile Championship, the Pacific Coast QHRA Derby and the Ruidoso Derby all in 1956. She was the 1956 Co- Champion Three-Year-Old Filly. Mack Shade was a stakes placed runner out of Dolly Mack. He was second in the New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby. He was sired by Bob-Shade. So, when we add Garcia Doll to the list, we see that one of Bob-Shade’s stakes winners and his three stakes placed runners were out of Dolly Mack.
Bella St Mary was the other stakes placed runner out of Dolly Mack. She was a finalist in 15 stakes races with seconds in the 1955 Ruidoso Derby, a third in the 1955 Bright Eyes Stakes, a third in the 1956 Ruidoso Maturity and a third in the 1957 Bright Eyes Stakes. She had 44 starts with 11 firsts, 8 seconds and 9 thirds.
Here is a pedigree note on Bella St Mary, who was sired by Spotted Bull. She is the dam of Double Devil, who is the sire of Go Effortlessly the dam of Special Effort, the only All American Triple Crown Champion. Bella St Mary is the dam of St Bar, leading
of seven foals with two starters both ROM, including Pana Doll and the second ROM was Robin III.
Bob-Shade, a Thoroughbred, was the
sire of Garcia Doll. Equibase records show that he had seven wins in 14 starts with
no earnings showing. He was the sire of
21 Quarter Horse starters with 11 ROM, two stakes winners and three stakes placed runners. They earned $93,230. One of his stakes winners was Shady Logan with 164 starts and 28 wins, 27 seconds and 23 thirds. She won the 1957 Raton Handicap.
The pedigree of Bob-Shade is interesting as his sire was Bobs Reno by Reno Idol by Stimulus by Ultimus. Bobs Reno was out of Bobs Luck by Supremus by Ultimus. This gives Bobs Reno a breeding pattern
of 3x3 to Ultimus. Ultimus was sired by Commando by Domino, and he was out of Running Stream by Domino. Ultimus is a major source of the Domino speed from that line. Ultimus was the sire of Luke McLuke, the broodmare sire of Three Bars. The dam of Bob-Shade was Good Shade by Haut Et Bon by Golden Sun by Sundridge, a source of speed. The dam of Good Shade is Shady Lane by St Swithins and she was out of I Saw It by Bonnie Joe, the sire of horses like Joe Blair, the sire of Joe Reed P-3.
The dam of Garcia Doll was Dolly Mack, a stakes-placed runner that was second in the 1949 Tucson Speed Stakes at 250 yards and second in the Tucson Speed Stakes at 300 yards that same year. She was third in the 1950 Shue Fly Stakes. She had 25 starts with ten wins, five seconds and five thirds. She was the dam of ten foals with nine starters and seven ROM, one stakes winner and four stakes placed runners. They earned $61,299. The stakes winner was Dolly’s Ace by Bob- Shade, and she was his second stakes winner.
