Our Third Delight, the dam of Tres Seis
The dam of Strawflyin Buds was Tinys Rose Bud by Tiny’s Gay. Tiny’s Gay was the 1974 World Champion and winner of that year’s Kansas Futurity and Rainbow Futurity and he was second in the All American Futurity. He missed the All American Triple Crown by a head with Easy Date winning the race. Tiny’s Gay was sired by Tiny Watch and out of Gay’s Delight by Rocket Bar.
Kay Carver Patino tells us about the breeding to Tres Seis to get CF Smokin Gun. “We had CF Buds A Smokin. After my dad died, my brothers and I went down to Texas to see Tres Seis, and we thought that was the winning combination. So, we bred to Tres Seis and produced CF Smokin Gun. We sold her in the Heritage Place Sale in 2012.” She was purchased by David Crawford and was listed by the AQHA as owned by Running
C Ranch of Centerview, Missouri. Crawford started the Running C Ranch LLC in 2012. Her purchase price was $12,000.
Tres Seis was the 2001 Champion Two- Year-Old Colt with a win in the Golden State Futurity, a second in the All American Futurity-G1, and a third in the Los Alamitos Million Futurity-G1. He ran second in
the 2002 All American Derby-G1 and the
Rainbow Derby-G1. He is the sire of horses that have won $28 million and as a broodmare sire he has earnings of over $35 million.
The pedigree of Tres Seis has a couple
of interesting ingredients that contribute to the pedigree of Cowboys Gun Z. His sire is Sixarun by Streakin Six by Easy Six. Easy Six is sired by Easy Jet and out of Peggy Toro by Hijo The Bull by Spotted Bull. Peggy Toro was out of Prescott Peggy Joe, a daughter of Peggy N, the dam of Miss Hijo Peggy, the 3/4-sister that is the dam of Charlie Bird.
The dam of Tres Seis is Our Third Delight by Reb’s Policy and Our Third Delight is
out of Tinys Delight, the full sister to Tiny’s Gay. This gives CF Smokin Gun a breeding
pattern of 3x4 to this full brother and sister. More on this later.
The Running C Ranch sent CF Smokin Gun to the court of Hes Relentless and
that foal is her first stakes winner named Relentless Gun. He made the finals of six stakes races with stakes wins in the 2019 Remington Park Juvenile and the Easy Jet Stakes. He earned $103,919. Ivory Smokin Gun was her 2019 foal, and he was her second ROM. He was sired by Ivory James. When we add in Cowboys Gun Z, she has five foals of racing age with three of them starters who have earned their ROM and two of them are stakes winners. Her foals have now earned $1,620,062.
