OUR TIME TO SHINE
Our Time To Shine unleashed a strong stretch run to win the October 31, 1-mile Peppers Pride New Mexico Cup Fillies and Mares Classic (R) for state-bred fillies and mares at Zia Park.
Racing for Scott R. Bean, James D.
Masek and trainer Nancy Summers, Our
Time To Shine closed off of the fractions of :24.29, :47.77, and 1:12.35 established by
the pacesetters before reaching the wire in 1:39.11. Francisco Amparan rode the 4-year-old daughter of Laugh Track.
Our Time To Shine was bred by Roger K. Beasley, and she was making her first start since April 23, when she ran sixth, five lengths behind winner Lemon Drop Gold, in the 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Russell & Helen Foutz Distaff Stakes (R) at SunRay Park. The filly is one of 46 winners from 93 starters sired by Laugh Track, a graded stakes winning son of Distorted Humor.
Campaigned from 2011-14, Laugh Track earned $598,014 from 16 races, and his
four wins included a half-length victory in the 2013 Vigil Stakes (G3) at Woodbine Racecourse near Toronto, and he ran second in that season’s XpressBet Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Park.
Laugh Track has sired one official black-type stakes winner and the earners of more than $2.05 million from five crops. The stallion stood the 2022 season for a $2,500 fee at W.L. and Dee Mooring’s Double LL Farm at Bosque, New Mexico.
Our Time To Shine’s dam, the winning Premeditation mare Shinestein, has produced three winners from four starters. The filly’s second dam, the Kentucky-bred Beau Genius mare Miss Einstein, won two stakes in New Mexico from 2000-03. A 1998 foal, Miss Einstein produced four stakes winners, including three full brothers to Shinestein -- Mr. Wizard, whose four stakes wins include the 2013 and 2015 Rocky Gulch New Mexico Cup Championship (R) at Zia Park; Beau Wizer, who won three stakes, including the 2014 and 2015 O.D. McDonald Stakes (R) at Albuquerque Downs; and Double Smart, who won three stakes, including the 2010 Rocky Gulch New Mexico Cup Championship (R).
Our Time To Shine’s second dam, the unraced Tim The Tiger mare Clause, foaled Z Lobo, a winning and stakes-placed half-brother to Miss Einstein. The filly traces back to her third dam, Guest, an unraced daughter of Sham who produced three stakes-winning half siblings to Clause, including Air Worthy, the winner of the 1989 Stephen Foster Handicap (G3) at Churchill Downs.
A $6,500 claimer during the 2021 Albuquerque Downs meet, Our Time To Shine has won four of 12 races, and the $73,800 winner’s share of the purse from her first career stakes score increased her earnings to $177,711. The filly’s resume includes a second-place finish in the March 6, $100,000 Peppers
Pride Handicap (R) at Sunland Park, and a
second place run, 4 3/4 lengths behind winner Slammed, in last year’s $100,000 Peppers Pride New Mexico Cup Distaff Championship (R).
Corrina Corrina ran second, a nose behind Our Time To Shine. Short Pockets, Desertrose Oftexas, No Regrets N Love, Autumn Touch, Flaxy Lady and Special Pride completed the order of finish.
Corrina Corrina races for Derrick W. Jenkins, who also bred the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. Trieste. The filly has won four of 13 races, including two stakes, and she has earned $299,970, of which $284,020 has been banked from 10 starts this season.
A homebred 7-year-old Southwestern Heat mare owned by John Pinkerton, Short Pockets has won four of 32 outs and has earned $148,301.
Our Time To Shine’s winning connections include owners Scott R. Bean and James D. Masek, trainer Nancy Summers and jockey Francisco Amparan.
