Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG1

After Frivolous won the $280,000 Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG1 at Los Alamitos on July 30, owner Sergio Hurtado paid tribute to his father, Humecindo Hurtado Lopez, who lives in Zacatecas, Mexico.
“My dad taught us the right way to do things and to be respectful,” Hurtado said. “He taught us the love for horses and other animals and the wonderful and positive examples that they can
be in our lives. From him we learned that with patience and smarts that we accomplish the best.”
Frivolous certainly did that in the Governor’s Cup Futurity, despite a less-than- stellar start. With jockey Henry Lopez in the irons, Frivolous got away in third from the 7-hole, stumbled a stride out of the gate, and then raced in fifth. But the gray filly recovered quickly, striding home strongly to win by a 1/2-length in :17.807 for 350 yards.
