Colors of the Wind P&A Stakes
WB STEVIE NIX

WB Stevie Nix APHA scored another stakes victory in the $24,500 Colors of the Wind Paint & Appaloosa Stakes at Retama Park on Aug. 20.
WB Stevie Nix broke in fourth. Under guidance from Luis Vivanco, the filly was able to secure a 1 1/2-length lead at first call and proved very much the best as she crossed the wire with a 1 1/4-length finish.
Trained by owner Gary Jacobs, they completed the 350 yards in :17.928, while posting a 93 speed index. The $10,903 winner’s share of the purse boosted her total lifetime earnings to $88,872. In addition to this stakes event, she has also won the GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Maturity-G3, GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile and GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Maturity Stakes.
WAG Ranches bred WB Stevie Nix out of multiple stakes winner Zoomin Moon. In addition to WB Stevie Nix, her only other foal is Wendells Livewire, who was a finalist in the American Paint Classic Futurity-G1.
Little Wagon Dreams APHA (Little PYC-Sallye Rand QH) made a push at the end to bank the second place check for owner Joanna Huerta. The Germain Bueno trainee had Jose Vega aboard. The mare was fifth in the Colors of Houston Paint & Appaloosa Derby earlier this year. Seperate Wagons APHA (Little PYC-Sallye Rand QH) finished third under Nestor Duran for owner Ervey Balderas and trainer J F Mendez. The gelding was coming off a second place finish in the GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Maturity.
VP Cold Strong Heart APHA (This Cartel Is Cold QH-Double Dashing Girl), Secret Livewire APHA (CRM Livewire-Moonlight Who TB), Dos Pennies APHA (Dash Master Jess QH-Double Dashing), GW Smashed Poruno APHA (Dos Poruno- Smashed N Splashed) and Texas Magazeche APHA (Texas Magnum Seven-Azes And Queens) completed the order of finish. Invisable Paint Brush APHA and Party In The Wagon APHA were scratched.

APOLLITICAL HERO

Apollitical Hero earned his first graded stakes win as he won the $48,807 Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge-G2 at Prairie Meadows on Aug. 20. The 4-year-old gelding responded positively to the longer distance, notching a victory over a compact field of six and earning a berth in the $250,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship-G1 to be held at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Oct. 22.
Ridden by Armando Alvidrez, Apollitical Hero broke sharply and raced in second position early. Despite drifting out, Apollitical Hero edged ahead
in the late stages and posted a neck victory over Juice Is Loose, stopping the timer in :21.590 over a muddy track. The final clocking earned a speed index of 105.
Owned by Tom Maher, Paul Luedemann, and Richard Tobin and trained by Jason Olmstead, Apollitical Hero improved his record to 24-5-
4-5 and the $24,403 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $121,332. Bred in Oklahoma by Canadian River QH LLC, Apollitical Hero was purchased by his ownership group for $55,000 at the 2019 Ruidoso Yearling Sale.
Olmstead also sent out runner-up Juice Is Loose (One Famous Eagle-Miss Southern DD). With jockey Edwin Escobedo aboard, Juice Is Loose rallied strongly on the outside and just missed for owners Tom Maher and Stephen Williams. He also placed second at the Canterbury Park Championship Challenge-G3 and the Boyd Morries Stakes-G2 in his prior two outs.
Purty Darn Quick (Jess Louisiana Blue-Now Margaret) and jockey Stormy Smith finished third. The gelding is owned and trained by John Hammes.
DF Storm Tales (Wagon Tales-Storm’s Promise-TB), Apollitical Redflash (Apollitical Jess- Chalala), and Fly The Coup (Favorite Cartel-Babe On The Fly) completed the order of finish.

VALIANT MISS PRISS

Valiant Miss Priss, dismissed at odds of 7-1 in the $33,847 Q-Racing Video Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge-G3 at Prairie Meadows on Aug. 20, surprised eight rivals in the 400-yard test to register the initial stakes score of her career.
Ridden by Cristian Esqueda, Valiant Miss Priss raced in fifth position early. With a strong rally through the lane, the brown filly surged past her foes and
won by 1-length at the finish, stopping the timer in :19.616 over a muddy track. The final clocking, which encroached on the :19.208 track record set in 2013 by HR Ebony Princess, earned a speed index of 101.
The lightly raced Valiant Miss Priss improved her overall record to 7-3-1-1 and the $15,908 winner’s share of the purse increased her earnings total to $54,531.
Stacy Charette-Hill owns and trains the filly.
She was bred in Oklahoma by Christie and Mikel Donahue. Valiant Miss Priss is out of the graded stakes winning mare Corona Mit Go who had six wins and earnings of $117,866 during her racing career.
Luminositi (Apollitical Jess-Quick Moon Sign) and jockey Armando Alvidrez led early and held on for second. Brenda Reiswig owns the 4-year-old filly and Jason Olmstead is the trainer.
In addition to saddling the winner, Charette- Hill also sent out third-place finisher Apollitical J Julia (Apollitical Jess-Julias Perfection) who raced in contention throughout and just missed second by a nose for owner Kent Jackson. The multiple graded stakes-placed runner is now an earner of $124,101 in 23 lifetime starts.
Apollitical Mogul (Apollitical Jess-Cash Cartel), Streakin Jesszee (Mr Jess Perry-Golly Zee), Kiss Me In The Snow (Kiss My Hocks-A Snowy Cartel), Jesst In Time (Jess Louisiana Blue-Zoomin for Cash), Apocalyptical Sis (Apollitical Jess-CC Seis), and FDD Princess (FDD Dynasty-Viborita) completed the order of finish.
