Futurity held at Prairie Meadows on Aug. 21. Lil Racy Blu was even faster in the stakes final,
finishing in :17.938 for an 86 speed index. A Tony Jones trainee, Lil Racy Blu broke from the 7-post and was running in second, 1-length behind, going into the stretch. The gelding made a driving finish, surging into the lead and running clear of any competitors to win by a margin of 1 3/4-lengths. his maiden on June 26, then won his July 31 trial for this futurity, finishing the 350-yard out in :18.460
