The $808,264 All American Derby-G1, Quarter Horse racing’s richest race for three year olds, will be contested on September 4. On August 21, eight trials were held to determine the 10 finalists.
There was minimal wind, with temperatures near 70 degrees and the track was sloppy due
to the rainy weather. All 10 qualifiers are geldings. The only homebred in the field was second fastest qualifier FDD Scout, who is bred and owned by Paragon Farms LLC. Trey Wood trained three qualifiers with second fastest qualifier FDD Scout, Apolitical Eyeopener and Strong Soul, while Eric Valenzuela trained two qualifiers in Muy Peligrosito and HT Double Jess. Jockey Ricky Ramirez was the only jockey to ride more than one qualifier with FDD Scout and Apolitical Eyeopener. Apollitical Jess was the only sire with multiple qualifiers in fastest qualifier A Pollitical Candy V and Apolitical Eyeopener.
