A Pollitical Candy V won his first stakes race in the 2022 Ruidoso Invitational Stakes, and then he scored in the Rainbow Derby-G1. The gelding’s other stakes events include second place finishes
in the Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1 and Evening Snow Handicap. This year, A Political Candy
V has won six of his eight starts. There was no doubt in his All American Derby trial as he won by an impressive 2 3/4-lengths to secure the fastest qualifying spot. The gelding was bred by Randy & Stacy Hill and is owned by Valeriano Racing Stables LLC. The Santos Carrizales Jr. trainee had Juan Pulido in the irons.
FDD SCOUT SI 101, $615,854
No stranger to stakes races, FDD Scout won last year’s Ruidoso Juvenile and was second in the
All American Futurity-G1. The gelding was also a finalist in the Rainbow Futurity-G1 and in this year’s Rainbow Derby-G1. FDD Scout’s All American Derby trial marks his first victory of the year. Ridden by Ricky Ramirez, FDD Scout dueled throughout the 440 yards to cross the wire a head in front to grab the second spot on the qualifying ladder. The gelding is bred and owned by Paragon Farms LLC and trained by Trey Wood.
BOMB CYCLONE SI 98, $858,687
Bomb Cyclone ended last season with a victory in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1 in an impressive wire-to-wire 2-length victory. Making his first start of 2022 in the All American Derby trials, Bomb Cyclone broke in fifth under Eduardo Nicasio and quickly took the lead and gained ground throughout the 440 yards to cross the wire with a remarkable 3 1/4-length lead. His time was fast enough for the third fastest qualifying spot. The gelding was bred by Steve D. Burns, DVM and is trained by Christopher O’Dell for owner Rosenthal Ranch LLC.
LETHAL AVENGER SI 104, $352,493
Lethal Avenger won his first stakes race last year in the La Fiesta Futurity at the Downs of Albuquerque. This year, the gelding has already won the West Texas Derby-G3 and was third in the Rainbow Derby-G1. Making his seventh start of 2022, Lethal Avenger had the lead in the beginning of his All American Derby trial, but had to settle for second under Noe Garcia Jr. for trainer Fred Danley, securing the fourth fastest qualifying spot. The gelding was bred by P. K. & Kim Thomas and is owned by J & SM Inc. and Don & Lane M. Reynolds.
MUY PELIGROSITO SI 101, $296,307
Muy Peligrosito ended 2021 with back-to-back stakes victories in the Southwest Juvenile Invitational Championship-G2 and All American Juvenile. This year, he has yet to win a stakes event, but placed second in the Ruidoso Derby-G1 and third in the West Texas Derby-G3. In his All American Derby trial, the gelding proved very much the best. Ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr., Muy Peligrosito broke in second and quickly secured his lead. He continued to gain ground throughout the sprint to cross the wire with a 1 1/2-length margin. His clocking was good enough for the fifth spot on the qualifying ladder. Bred by Darling Farms & Jaime H. Gomez, Muy Peligrosito is owned by Super Champion Inc. and trained by Eric Valenzuela.
