by Michael Compton
To say trainer Riley Moosman held a strong hand in the $88,268 Hadley/Giles Futurity at Weber Downs on May 24 would be an understatement. The condi- tioner sent out four of the field’s eight runners, and when the dust settled after the 330-yard contest, two runners saddled by Moosman decided the outcome with KP Dillon edging out stablemate VF Politically Red.
With jockey Tyson Lusk aboard, KP Dillon dueled with VF Politically Red from the outset.
The two raced as a team through the lane with KP Dillon prevailing by a nose at the finish to remain undefeated in two career starts. A winner of his trial heat and the sixth-fastest qualifier stopped the timer in :17.009, earning a 98 speed index.
Owned and bred by Karl Peterson, KP Dillon is out of winner BK Roxyamovin. She has produced two winners from three starters. KP Dillon is her first stakes winner.

Bred in Oklahoma by Victory Farms, VF Politically Red, the tenth-fastest qualifier and second in her trial, earned a 98 speed index in the main event, identical to the winner.
