Blood Money now boasts lifetime earnings of $601,131 after adding the $413,310 winner’s share of this lucrative purse to his coffers.
Owned by Rojas Racing Stables and trained by Rosendo Valdez Jr., Blood Money was bred in Louisiana by Spring Hill Farms LLC. He is by Apollitical Blood and is produced from the Shazoom mare Zoom To The Money. An earner of $107,222 during her racing career, Zoom To The Money won
the Mile High Futurity-G2 at Arapahoe in 2008. She also collected stakes wins in 2010, winning the Dash For Speed Stakes, and the Rocky Mountain Championship in 2011, both at Arapahoe.
“He’s not hot tempered like a lot of the Apollitical Bloods; he’s always been calm, almost a lazy horse, but on the racetrack he is something special,” said winning trainer Rosendo Valdez Jr..
Blood Money was purchased for $17,000 at the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Yearling Sale in 2020.
“This horse was really laid back as a baby, almost lazy, he liked to smell the flow- ers,” Spring Hill Farms owner David Dunn shared with the press. “Rosendo sent me a video from his schooling race, that’s when we knew he could run. I never dreamed he’d be this good.”
