Governors Cup Futurity-RG1
SHE GOES UP

Eight years ago, Up For It won the Governor’s Cup Futurity at Los Alamitos for owner- breeder Dr. Ed Allred. But a spider bite on her
shin compromised her racing career, and she never won again. Instead, she has become a good producer for Allred, and her daughter She Goes Up captured this year’s Governor’s Cup Futurity, upgraded from a Grade 2 to a Grade 1 in the interim.
She Goes Up almost didn’t qualify for the Futurity. She drew into a trial with maiden winner Favorite Honey, who defeated her by 1-length. She Goes Up’s time qualified her 10th. Up For It actually had a faster qualifier in the gelding Set For It, a full brother to She Goes Up and the second-fastest qualifier.
Jonathan Roman rode She Goes Up for the first time in the final. She Goes Up went off at 28-1, the longest shot on the board. As in her trial, She Goes Up again drew the rail, and she broke perfectly, getting the jump on the field. Watch Out, also an Allred homebred, tried to
