by Michael Compton
Tom Maher’s Apollitical Mogul topped a competi- tive field of five in the $36,933 Q-Racing Video Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge-G3 on Aug. 14, and the daughter of World Champion Apollitical Jess rolled to a resounding score as the odds-on choice in the 400-yard test for trainer Jason Olmstead.
Ridden by Edwin Escobedo, Apollitical Mogul jumped out to the early lead and immediately distanced herself from her rivals. She extended her advantage to 1-length in the lane and was never seriously challenged, winning by 1 1/4-lengths at the finish. Apollitical Mogul stopped the timer in :19.840, earning a 95 peed index. The victory earned her a berth in the Oct. 23 Q-Racing Video Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 at Albuquerque.
With the win, the multiple graded stakes-placed 5-year-old mare is now 9 for 30 lifetime and boasts earnings of $187,539, which includes the $19,204 winner’s share of this Distaff Challenge purse. by John Moorehouse
Making just his third lifetime start, Classinova tallied his first victory, and did so in the $69,594 Iowa Stallion Futurity held Aug. 15 at
Prairie Meadows.
Leo Butell home-bred the two-year-old gelding,

Butell and Mike Schau own Classinova’s dam, Classy In Red, a stakes-placed 2012 mare. She fin- ished third in the Markel Stakes, held in 2014 here at Prairie Meadows.
