Snow Advisory is finding 2021 her best season yet. The 5-year-old mare became a stakes winner for the first time when she won the $25,000 Colors of the Wind Paint & Appaloosa Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on Aug. 7.
A couple of strides out of the gate, Snow Advisory began to veer outward. But jockey Rolando Cabrera quickly straightened her out and she pre- vailed by a nose, receiving every call and completing the 350 yards in :18.031.
Snow Advisory began racing for her breeder, Ronald Yates, and she was competitive in claiming and allowance company. Jennifer Chapa has owned Snow Advisory since mid-2019, and the mare earlier this year at Remington Park ran second in the Paul Harber Paint & Appaloosa Memorial Stakes.
Yates bred Snow Advisory from his homebred multiple stakes-placed mare Snow Warning. The mare has produced five starters, all winners, includ- ing Champion Uno Peach, graded stakes winner Southern Snow, and stakes-placed Aguascalientes.
Wag Ranches’ homebred WB Stevie Nix APHA (CRM Livewire-Zoomin Moon) finished second. Luis Vivanco rode the filly for trainer Gary Jacobs. WB Stevie Nix was coming off a win in the GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Maturity. Dan and Kaye Jones’ homebred Live Moonshine APHA (CRM Livewire- PRP Sedona Sunset) ran third under jockey Cody Smith for trainer Lewis Jordan. The World Champion has won nine stakes. Completing the field were Just Wishn APHA (Boknaai QH-Just Splashin), Seperate Wagons APHA (Little PYC-Sallye Rand), Jess
Mean N Wild APHA (Wild Perry-Mean Little Sis), Moonpiebywire APHA (CRM Livewire-Moonpie Marauder), Heza Wicked Man ApHC (Appsolutely Wicked-Sheza Fast Dancer), Paint Your Lips ApHC (Hes Relentless QH-Paint This Kitty), and Junipers Bull APHA (Bull-Junipers Royal Treat).

Perrys Double Down, a 4-year-old son of Champion Mr Jess Perry campaigned by Stinebaugh Equine Enterprises LLC, scored a 1-length
victory in the inaugural $73,585 Bank of America Albuquerque Championship Challenge on Aug. 14.
Prepped by John Stinebaugh and racing against a reported 12-mph head wind, Perrys Double Down went 440 yards in :20.933. Francisco Calderon
rode the sorrel gelding, who earned a 107 speed index, his third career stakes win, and a berth in
the Oct. 23, $250,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship-G1 at Albuquerque Downs.
Perrys Double Down was stretching out in distance off of his 1-length victory on a sloppy
and sealed track in the 400-yard $40,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes-G2 at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding was bred in Texas by Bob and Jerry Gaston, and he was a $45,000 purchase at the 2018 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City.
Perrys Double Down is out of Double Down Darling, a winning Fishers Dash mare. Perrys Double Down has won five of 15 starts and has banked $316,425, and his three wins in nine outs
at the classic 440-yard distance include last year’s $393,000 Texas Classic Derby-G1 at Lone Star Park.

Mario Dominguez’s Tommys Diamond drew clear from the field in the stretch and scored a 1 1/4-length victory in the $55,000 Balloon
City Stakes for fillies and mares at The Downs at Albuquerque on Aug. 20.
Prepped by Carlos Acosta Jr. and aided by a reported 11-mph tail wind, Tommys Diamond covered 400 yards in :19.268. Alfredo Sigala rode the 3-year-old Jesse James Jr filly.
Tommys Diamond was making her first official start since May 22, when she sprinted to a 1/2-length win in a 350-yard $42,960 first-level allowance dash at SunRay Park. The filly was bred in Texas by the Paragon Rigby Partnership, and she was a $16,000 purchase at this year’s Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City.
