Royal Quick Dash returns after winning the 1991 All American Futurity for owner Doloras Contreras, trainer Ben Torres and jockey Jerry Rodriguez. ROYAL QUICK DASH WINS THE 1991 ALL AMERICAN FUTURITY (440 YARDS)
Royal Quick Dash came to the All American Futurity with the pedigree credentials to be a winner of the All American Futurity-G1. He was bred by the famed Vessels Stallion Farm and sired by their World Champion First Down Dash. His dam was the Vessels broodmare Harems Choice by Beduino TB, another leading sire from the Vessels Stallion Farm. His dam Harems Choice came from the family of the blue hen mare Flicka. Flicka was the dam of Black Easter Bunny, the dam of Bunny’s Bar Maid. Black Easter Bunny was a full sister to Hy Flicka, who was the
dam of Flicka Your Bic, the dam of Harems Choice. This is also the female family of Come Six. who was second in Mr Kid Charge’s All American Futurity. His dam Flicka Six was out of Flicka Hyloah, a full sister to Hy Flicka and
Black Easter Bunny. Royal Quick Dash was in the first crop sired by First Down Dash and the first foal for his dam.
David Morales of Las Cruces, New Mexico, bought Royal Quick Dash as a yearling. He sent the colt to Ben Torres to train. The colt made his first start on February 8 at Sunland Park, getting his maiden win. He was his sire’s first winner. His next start came in the West Texas Futurity trials, which he won and qualified for the consolation where he finished ninth. He next started in the Sun Country Futurity trials. He won his trial, qualifying for the finals. He finished eighth in the Sun Country Futurity-G1. His next start was in the Kansas Futurity trial, finishing second to World Class Man, but qualifying for the finals. He ran fifth in the finals. Between the Kansas Futurity and the Rainbow Futurity, Royal
Quick Dash changed hands. His new owner was Doloras Conteras of Columbus, New Mexico. He then went into the Rainbow Futurity trials where he won his trial and then finished second in the Consolation to I Will Sign.
The first of Royal Quick Dash’s All American trials resulted in a win and in his second trial he went against Leaving Memories and Holland Ease. Leaving Memories won
the race with the fastest qualifying time of :21.38. Royal Quick Dash ran second and
he qualified with the seventh fastest time of :21.66. Ed Grimley won his trial in a time
of :21.440 to make him the second fastest qualifier. Easy Freddie was the third fastest qualifier with a time of :21.590. This time trial also had three more horses qualify. They were Cowboy Rodeo, with a second place and a time
