Favorite Blues Man is a 2-time winner with his score in his Aug. 20 All American Futurity trial. The bay gelding has made all of his starts at Ru- idoso Downs and he first stepped onto the track on May 29 in the trials to the Ruidoso Futurity. He broke on top in those and was never headed, winning by 1/2-length. He was vanned off the track as a precaution and came back for the $1,000,000 finals. He loaded into the 1-hole and broke on top but drifted out a bit. It was a tight race and the gelding found himself in third at the first call and he finished in fourth position. Again, he was vanned off.
On Aug. 20 in the All American Futurity trials, Favorite Blues Man took to the 9-hole and he was out with the leaders for the third call. Under Noe Garcia Jr., who was riding him for the first time, Favorite Blues Man quickly grabbed a head lead and held that margin through to the top of the stretch. The gelding continued to widen the gap and tripped the timer with a 3/4-length dead-heat victory. He received the co-fourth fastest clocking on day 1 of the trials. Once again, the gelding was vanned off the track. Favorite Blues Man was bred by Lucky Seven Ranch and is owned by La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC. Juan D. Torres is the conditioner.
Jess Dream Of Me has now won two consecutive races with her victory in the All American Futurity trials on Aug. 20. She began her racing career at Ruidoso Downs and has made all of her starts at the New Mexico track. In her first out, the sorrel filly competed in the May 29 trials to the Ruidoso Futurity. She was a game second in those but did not qualify to the finals. Next were the trials to the Rainbow Futurity. With jockey Jorge Torres aboard for the first time, Jess Dream Of Me broke well in second and quickly took the lead for a 3/4-length win but her time was not good enough make it into the finals.
In the Aug. 20 trials to the All American Futurity, Jess Dream Of Me entered the 3-gate under Torres. They opened and she was out well in fourth. She drifted a bit but steadied and was in second by the top of
the stretch. Coming on strong in the lane, Jess Dream Of Me was up at the wire and a dead-heat was declared for the victory. She comes into
the finals with the co-fourth fastest time on day 1. The filly was bred by Speed LLC and is owned by Raymond Merrill and Gregory Cullum, and her conditioner is Clinton Crawford.
