Hennessy Roll mare Hennesey Smash, won four stakes and earned $252,006 from eight races from 2012-13. A New Mexico-bred, Hennesey Smash has sired four winners from as many starters, including Roll On Diabolical, a Diabolical colt who won two stakes, includ- ing the $177,659 New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity (R) at Albuquerque Downs in 2018, and Smash Ticket, a two-year- old filly, who finished third in the August 6, $201,500 Sorrento Stakes (G2) at Del Mar.
Slammed’s second dam, the unraced Rare Brick mare Some Smash, produced a total of five stakes winners from 10 starters, all of whom are half siblings to Hennesey Smash, including 10-time stakes winner Star Smasher, eight-time stakes winner Some Ghost, and three-time stakes winner Smash Dancer. Slammed’s third dam A Smash, won two stakes in New Mexico in 1985 and foaled A Smashing Chance, a stakes-winnning half-brother to Some Smash.
Slammed’s win streak includes a wire-to- wire, 11-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong $50,000 Sierra Starlet Stakes (R) for three- year-old fillies at Ruidoso Downs, and a 4 1/2-length score in the 6 1/2-furlong $100,000 Carlos Salazar Stakes (R) for fillies and mares at Albuquerque Downs. All told, the filly has won five of six outs, and the $60,000 winner’s share
 Slammed continued her domination
of the New Mexico-bred Thoroughbred distaff ranks, as she extended her win streak to four in the Sept. 11, $100,000 Petticoat Stakes (R) for state-bred sophomore fillies at Albuquerque Downs.
Ridden by Tracy Hebert, Slammed went 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.67 while defeating Proofsinthepuddin by a convincing 6 1/2 lengths. Todd Fincher prepped the filly for owners Fincher Racing LLC, Brad King, and Suzanne Kirby.
Slammed was bred by Brad King and
Todd Fincher, and she is one of four official black-type stakes winners sired by Marking,
a winning Kentucky-bred nine-year-old son
of the A.P. Indy stallion Bernardini. Marking earned $426,200 from eight starts, including a second-place finish in Runhappy’s 2015 Malibu Stakes (G1).
Marking has sired the earners of $784,000 from two crops, including stakes winners Delbert Too, Mark’s Warrior, and Marked. A half-brother to Grade 2 winner Lake Avenue, the stallion is owned by Fred Alexander and Todd Fincher, and he stands for a $3,500 fee at Fred and Linda Alexander’s A & A Ranch in New Mexico.
Marking’s dam, the 12-year-old Roll
of the purse from this stakes win increased her bankroll to $167,605.
Line Call finished third and was followed by Marking Time and Quatro.
Runner-up Proofsinthepuddin banked $20,000 for her owner Reliance Ranches LLC. The filly has won two starts and was second in the Sierra Starlet Stakes.
Line Call is owned by Margaret V. Bloss, who purchased the daughter of the Peace Rules stallion Chipshot for $20,000 at the 2019 New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The filly has banked $58,302 from eight races, and her two wins include a 2 1/4-length victory in last year’s 6-furlong $50,000 New Mexico Cup Lassie Championship (R) at Zia Park.
