Dash For Cash Derby-G2
FAVORITE BLUES MAN
by Michael Compton
Favorite Blues Man has held his own against the top runners of his crop in both his juvenile and sophomore seasons without
recording a signature win. That changed for him when he overpowered his rivals to win the $152,600 Dash for Cash Derby-G2 at Lone Star Park on Oct. 1.
The fastest qualifier for the 400-yard event from the Sept. 17 trials, Favorite Blues Man, under Francisco Calderon,
broke smartly on hte lead
despite an early bump and assumed command at once. He asserted his superiority through the lane and was never seriously challenged, crossing the wire a measured 1 1/2-lengths ahead of his foes. In scoring the initial stakes victory of his career, Favorite Blues Man stopped the timer in the fast time of :21.339 to earn a speed index of 99.

jockey Victor Urieta Jr. could not match strides with the winner late but proved best of the rest for trainer Juan Diaz Jr. The multiple stakes-winning filly is a Texas homebred for Francisco Garza.
Cell Bounce (Corona Cartel-My Famous Lady), with Rodrigo Vallejo aboard, finished third for owner Victory Farms and trainer Heath Taylor. A $110,000 graduate of the 2020 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Cell Bounce was bred in Utah by McColee Land & Livestock LLC.
