Garañones Futurity Consolation
BR FICHA
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
Only nine of the ten qualifiers participated in the Consolation of the Garañones Futurity since La Chamulita of the Cuadra
Baldeli was not entered. The purse for this race reached $447,651 pesos ($22,297 U.S. approx.), which had a course of 300 yards.
The fillies Miss Niftys Krash and BR Ficha, both from the Cuadra Bronco Rider, were marked wide favorites to win this contest. This proved correct, as they achieved first and second place at the wire.
The break was disturbed by the “domino effect.” LA Pretty Fullmoon drifted inwards toward Tarasco One, which came over to CC Upper Cartel, who did the same against Miss Niftys Krash. It was this powerful filly (Miss Niftys Krash) who recovered and entered the fight for the first place, having as her main rival stablemate BR Ficha, who from the 9-post ran freely under the energetic command of Mario Alberto López Marmolejo in such a way that she overtook Miss Niftys Krash by 1/2-length.
She covered the distance in :15.01, which reflected a 95 speed index, and the highest she has recorded in her four outings, of which she has obtained three first places, and adding $223,826 pesos ($11,149 US approx.) to her earnings account for this win.
BR Ficha is the daugh-
ter of Southern Corona
out of BR Heza First (by Hezaspicymeatzaballa), bred
in the State of Jalisco by
Maximiliano Pérez Castañeda for his Cuadra Bronco Rider. She is trained by Ismael Parra Martínez. It was a successful day for this team, which also took second place in the Garañones Futurity-RG2 with BR Chivali Champ.
BR Ficha’s qualification to the consola- tion was obtained in race seven on June 19, winning her trial by 3/4-length in :15.241
as the third fastest qualify- ing time, also under the guidance of Mario Alberto López Marmolejo, who is her regular rider.
The filly Miss Niftys Krash (Krash Cartel-Niftys Royal Flush, Sixes Royal) finished in second place under José Roberto Durán for owner Cuadra Bronco Rider, breeder Abelardo Gallegos Fernández and trainer Ismael Parra Martínez.
In third place was El Divo One (Bullish One-CY Divas Prospect, Coronas Prospect) with Alejandro Gómez in the irons. The gelding is owned by Rancho El Suspiro, bred by Cuadra La Presita and trained by Ismael Ayala Salas.
