Shue Fly Stakes (RG2)
Everybuddys Talkin, a daughter of Gonna Ro Sham Bo racing for Eric Pineda of Odessa, Texas, broke her maiden with a three-quarter length victory in the January 14 Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred sopho- mores at Sunland Park.
Prepped by Ricardo Armendariz, Everybuddys Talkin covered 400 yards in :19.624 under jockey Raul Herrera. The $97,221 winner’s share of the $206,853 Shue Fly purse pushed the brown filly’s bankroll to $112,335 from seven outs, all in New Mexico.
Everybuddys Talkin was purchased privately by Pineda in October, at the sugges- tion of Armendariz, a third-generation trainer who has had his license for less than a year. Armendariz talked Pineda into supplementing the filly into the Shue Fly trials for $10,000.
“I really thought she had a good chance to qualify to the (Shue Fly) final, and fortunately
I was able to convince Eric to supplement her,” Armendariz said. “During the summer she’d raced against Bigg Daddy, who was the fastest qualifier to the All American Futurity. She didn’t beat him, but she was able to hang with him for a lot of that race. I figured from that race alone that she might be something special.”
Everybuddys Talkin was bred by Bauer Farm, LLC of Anthony, New Mexico, and she ended her 2-year-old season by setting the third-fastest qualifying time with a second-place finish in the last of four Shue Fly trials on December 22.
Everybuddys Talkin’s sire, Gonna Ro Sham Bo, raced in New Mexico in 2006 and won four
of six starts and earned $118,336. A gray son of the Runaway Winner stallion Real Runaway, Gonna Ro Sham Bo won the ’06 Ruidoso Horse Sale Futurity (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs, and he is a half-brother to Big Bang Zoom, a multiple stakes winner in Mexico City.
Gonna Ro Sham Bo has sired the earners of more than $1.4 million from seven crops, and his starters include 2012 Zia Futurity (RG1) winner Gonna Cha Cha. The stallion is owned by Leslie and Jinger Clemmer, and he stands at the Clemmers’ Glasses Creek Farm at Madill, Oklahoma.
Everybuddys Talkin’s dam, Kat Kora, is a winning daughter of the Eastern Echo (TB) stallion The Trader’s Echo (TB). Raced in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Minnesota 2008-10, Kat Kora earned $33,638 from 22 starts, and she ran fourth in the ’08 AQHA New Mexico Juvenile Challenge Stakes (G3) at Ruidoso Downs.
Kat Kora has produced four winners from as many starters, including DM Ada Kat, a winning full brother to Everybuddys Talkin who ran second in the 2016 KOFX-FM Radio Handicap (G2) at Sunland Park. Her second dam, the winning Dash Ta Fame mare Famous Poet, produced two graded stakes placed runners, both of whom were half-brothers to Kat Kora: Caught On Tape, the runner-up in the ’11 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs, and Frank N Jesse, the runner-up in Chickaloni’s 2015 New Mexico Cup Futurity (RG2) at Zia Park.

a second-place finish, a nose behind winner and eventual two-time stakes winner A Jordon Reed, in a 330-yard, $16,000 maiden-special-weight dash at Remington Park on May 5.
Armendariz said that Everybuddys Talkin would be pointed to the Zia Derby (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs in July and the New Mexico Cup Derby (RG2) at Zia Park in October.
“I’ve had this filly for about four months now, and she’s really adapted well to our pro- gram,” he added. “She was training well leading up to the Shue Fly final. I worked with her in the gates a few times to try to quiet her a little, and on the morning of the final she had that look in her eye. I was confident that if we got a good break, we’d have a good chance to win.”
Daddys Blushing finished second and was followed by Daddys Copy, Flashin Cartel, First N Forever, Scooters Crown Jewel, Leftlane, fastest qualifier Regard The Rose, Frangellica, and Jesse Klee.
A bay son of the Corona Cartel stallion Big Daddy Cartel owned by Gary W. Hartstack of Houston, Texas, Daddys Blushing has earned $226,554 from seven starts. The gelding won two stakes during his 2-year-old campaign, including the 350-yard, $393,000 Mountain Top Futurity (RG3) at Ruidoso Downs in June.
Daddys Copy races for Mac and Janis Murray’s MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico, which also bred the brown daughter of Big Daddy Cartel. Daddys Copy has won two of seven outs, and the $22,754 third-place share of the Shue Fly purse bumped the filly’s bankroll to $47,601.
