The nature of Quarter Horse racing leads to exciting nose, head, and neck finishes. So when a horse wins by what would be daylight if the sun were up, it is awe-inspiring. That is just what Bomb Cyclone did in both his trial and the final of the Dec. 12 Los Alamitos $2 Million Futurity-G1.
Though bred in California, Bomb Cyclone invaded Los Alamitos from Ruidoso Downs, where he didn’t qualify for major futurities while learning the lessons of a proper break from the gate. He put it all together when
it counted for one of the most impressive performances in recent memory.
“It just seemed like all our ducks were getting in a row and lining up,” said Christopher O’Dell, who trains Bomb Cyclone for Connie Rosenthal’s Rosenthal Ranch LLC.
