earnings to $116,057, and the win improved her overall record to 6-2-1-0.
The filly’s only other win came first time out when she captured a Remington Park Futurity trial by 3/4-length in her unveiling.
Bred in Oklahoma by Michael Pohl, Paint Your Lips P is produced from the multiple graded stakes-winning Jess Louisiana Blue mare Jess Paint Your Lips. An earner of $158,962 in a stellar racing career, Jess Paint Your Lips won eight of 11 lifetime starts. Her biggest victories came in the 2017 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 at Prairie Meadows, that year’s Lone Star Distaff Challenge at Lone Star Park, the 2016 Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge, and she closed out her career with a score in the 2018 Decketta Stakes at Remington Park for Pohl.
The winner’s stablemate, BV Poetry In Motion (Coronado Cartel-Eyesa First), offered game chase but proved second best under Ruben Castro in her fifth career outing. The Bella Vista Farms homebred finished third in her trial heat and broke her maiden in her second lifetime start at Remington Park in May.
Rollin Country Girl (Mighty B Valiant- Jess Because I Could), piloted by Fernando Fonseca-Soto, turned in a strong late bid despite drifting in to finish third, a neck behind BV Poetry In Motion. A homebred for Ellen Kennedy Racing LLC, the sorrel
filly is trained by Jose Villafranco. She was bred in Oklahoma.
Fastest qualifier and odds-on race favorite Miss Beth Dutton (Kiss My Hocks- Time For Jess) was never a factor. After bumping hard at the start, she finished fourth for trainer Clinton Crawford and owners Conda and Judy Maze.
Sparky Kazaam (High Rate Of Return- Ally Kazaam), One Kiss At A Time (Kiss My Hocks-One Corona At A Time), Relentless Babe (Hes Relentless-Mai Corona), Kisss And Teller (Kiss My Hocks-Telher To Fly), Lillie Langtry (Apollitical Blood-Martinis
N Bikinis), and Prodijee (Mr Jess Perry- Shazumba) completed the order of finish.
