Apollitical Payoff, who is out of the Tres Seis mare Seis the Royal Clash, broke his maiden two starts back in a 350-yard maiden event at Will Rogers Downs in his sixth lifetime start.
Apollitical Payoff won his Oct. 29 trial to the Black Gold Colts & Geldings Futurity Championship. He went wire-to-wire in that race, finishing 1 3/4-lenghts to the good for the third fastest qualifying time to the finals.
In addition to his three career wins, Apollitical Payoff finished third in his All American Futurity trial in August and second in his Ruidoso Futurity trial in May.
Assaulte (Captain Courage-Runaway Ivory) turned in a big late run to secure the place spot for owner Josefina Guzman and trainer Fidencio Jimenez. Assaulte, a winner in his Oct. 29 trial heat for the second fastest qualfying time, was bred in Oklahoma by Bobby Cox. He registered the first win of his career in August at Sam Houston in his fourth lifetime start.
Fastest qualifier Mr Goodbye (Jess Good Candy-Pithia), with jockey Agustin Silva in the irons, rallied late to finish third for J.J. Racing and trainer Michelle Hurdle. Denied a third straight victory, the sorrel colt was bred in Oklahoma by Eduardo Nieto. He captured his trial heat by 3/4-lengths.
Hard Rock Candy (Corona Cartel- Rock This Candy Tree), Waitin On Eight (Valiant Hero-Midnight Sunlight), Political Speed (Apollitical Jess-Fast Prize Corona), Nouveaux (Duponte-Shescheckinumout),
Capo De Rock (Capo De Capi-Rock Princess), BV Yesterdays Wine (Coronado Cartel-BV Ms James), and Fancy My Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Fancy First Prize) completed the order of finish.
