Mexican Breeders Futurity Challenge

The ten finalists of the Mexican Breeders Futurity Challenge were obtained from the trials held on Oct. 10 over a distance of 350 yards, with the participation of 73 of the 78 registered runners.
The Cuadra Bronco Rider stable qualified three runners to the final, while both the Cuadra H-R and Cuadra Baldeli stables did so with two runners each. Acapulco Cartel was scratched, owned by the aforementioned Cuadra Baldeli, reducing their presence to a single runner, which was Rey Alfredo, who qualified with the fastest time of :17.132.
The final took place on Oct. 31, and it was Rey Alfredo who was proclaimed the champion in a clean race for the whole group, which he dominated from start to finish running in the center of the track. It took :17.17 (SI 93) and the good direction by his jockey, Paul Osvaldo Rodríguez García, to overcome Jamaikina by 1/2-length.
Rey Alfredo was coming off a victory in the Select Yearling Sale Futurity Consolation, now adding to his record the
Mexican Breeders Futurity
Challenge, in a total of
seven outings, of which
he has obtained six first
places and profits that are
already approaching two
million pesos. It is worth
mentioning that the purse
assigned to this race was
$3,155,150 pesos ($152,726
US approximately), of which
42% was paid to the winner.

Kuri, the gelding is a son
of the stallion Fearless Fritz and he is out
of Proud Corrina (by Corona Cartel), and belongs to the Cuadra Baldeli. He receives his usual preparation from José Guadalupe García
“Lupillo”, with Ismael Ayala Salas as the trainer who officially represents him.
The award ceremony
was led by Adriana Gómez Barnola, Manager of the AMCCCCM, and Mauricio Dorantes, Manager of Equestrian Operation of the Hipodromo de Las Americas, who presented the trophies to the trainer Ismael Ayala Salas and the jockey Paul Osvaldo Rodríguez García.
After the race, the jockey commented: “He is a very good horse. Little by little he has improved
his performance, until winning this final today. He has very good preparation, because he kept pace at 350 yards, always relying
on a good break,” said Paul, who remains
