Las Américas Futurity
JESS SIXY PERRY
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
With only five participants raised in
the United States, the Las Americas Futurity was run at 400 yards for a prize of $325,000 pesos ($15,737 U.S. approx.). The colt Amplifyed, from the Cuadra Baldeli, was registered but scratched on race day.
The favorite at the betting windows was Jess Sixy Perry, who responded punctually when the race was run. She was the first to appear from the gate and remained at the front of the group throughout the distance, well managed and with minimal pressure from her rider Aaron Adrián Gómez. They crossed the finish line 2-lengths in front of Geopolitical, who started from the 6-post and made a good race on the right side of the track.
The winner, who is by Mr Jess Perry and out of Sixy Silhouette (by Corona Cartel), completed the sprint in :19.47, while posting
a 94 speed index. She remains undefeated in two outs at the track with her first victory in her maiden on Aug. 8 under
the direction of Yair Daniel
Báez. Now she adds to her account $162,550 pesos ($7,868 U.S. approx.) as winner’s share of this purse.
Bred in the United
States by Grant Farms
LLC, Jess Sixy Perry
was sold for $33,000 at
the 2020 Ruidoso Select
Yearling Sale. She is owned
by the Cuadra H-R where
René Moreno trains her
with Ismael Ayala
Salas being responsible for saddling.
The awards ceremony was attended by Mr. Teodoro Rivera, owner of Cuadra
H-R, and his sons, who received the awards from Adriana Gomez, Manager of the
AMCCCCM, and Mauricio Dorantes, Operations Manager of the Hipodromo de las Americas.
The bay colt Geopolitical (Apollitical Jess-Rieda Hay Worth, Corona Cartel) made a good effort in his debut, placing second under Orlando F. Monterrosas. He is the property of Cuadra San Judas Tadeo and was saddled by Gregorio Alberto Razo Parra.
Pounding Pavement (Street Cry T-Denali Avalanche,
Separatist) and jockey Ángel Santillán were third for owner Rancho San Pedro PZH and trainer Gonzalo Bastida Pacheco.
